The closest hotel to the site is the Super 8.
1208 East Cherry Street, Vermillion, SDý - (605) 624-8005ý (but its not the best hotel)

The nicest hotel in town is the Comfort Inn
701 West Cherry Street, Vermillion, SDý - (605) 624-8333ý (not insanely expensive either)

The cheapest hotel in town is the Westside Inn
1313 West Cherry Street, Vermillion, SDý - (605) 624-2601ý (you get what you pay for, but my parents got a room there once for 20 bucks a night, most spendy I've heard was like 50 a night there)

Winners! (Huh) that courageously received pies were:

Yukimura - 'thrown' by none other then me as a present from my companion Oderic

Darvin - after a fierce bidding war between Princess Ruuna and Kite of Lands End, the Princess stood aside due to the reasoning from Kite "He took my & my teams last life with a FOD!"

And due to Kaima and Tigger not showing........

Sir Balinor!  After another strong bidding war between Princess Ruuna and Bal's own squire Oderic, Ruuna won the pie.  Now, Sir Balinor has said that he will get Tigger and Kaima for not showing and him having to take it, BUT after watching what the fair Princess did with said pie, I don't think Sir Bal has anything to be fussy about  Tongue

Some of you have heard the rumors, and you should know, yes, it's true.  Some jugging fans in Rivermoor have decided it's high time we have some hot and heavy jugging action.  We're hoping to see each Barony field at least two teams, and the Duchy field 3.  If we can arrange it, perhaps even get some real "away" action and travel somewhere in the frozen north for some tundra jugging!

If you like to jug, or just like fast fighting action, get in on this!  We'll be taking names of players who are interested and scheduling practice, pre-season games, and hopefully even an exhibition game at Autumn Trials.  We're kinda avoiding "company" teams, because we want the chance for players to show their stuff with new folks, as well as be able to trade a hot quick for a strong heavy!

Sojiro, myself and Ashitaka are working on the QT teams.  Celerhac is working on the GP teams, and Matosi is working on IT.  We're still looking for a rep for CP.

My turn!

I would also like to thank Duke Sir Yoto, Cio Cio, and all of Clan Raion for hosting a great Summer Trials.  Also Eternal Flame for pancakes and sausage, and Land's End for the lunch thingy that I can't remember right now but was very tasty.

Congratulations to the new Lions and the new Flame, and to Altessa and Hazel (FREE COOOO!)

Everytime I hit a non-standard event (something not a regular game day) I think "wow, Amtgard just gets better and better" and this was no exception.  Still being relatively new to the game, I especially love seeing folks from other parks, drinking, singing, fighting, and revelling with all of you.  If any of you ever start to wonder why you still do it, remember the feeling and the spirit of Summer Trials.  Vivat Amtgard!

I look forward to the next time many are gathered with a great deal of anticipation.  Watch for upcoming announcements about Olympus' big events in February and March (Throwdown In The Snow and Ironman) cuz we're gunning for some really big things.

Thank you, one and all, for making Summer Trials a great event.  I had a BLAST!

In service to you and everyone like you,
Owen MacGregor, Regent of Olympus

Cio Cio,

I would like to extend a big thank you to Sir Yoto, CioCio, and all of Raion for running such a wonderful event this past weekend.  I agree with CioCio, it was a fun filled event with alot of very good competition and fighting.

Just to set the record straight there were two new lions this weekend.....both I (Ruuna) and Etiene received our Lions this weekend.  Congratulations to Hazel and Altessa for their colors in FreeCo and to Michael Porter as well on his induction into Eternal Flame.

Remember all the next big Rivermoor day is on September 19,2010 in Gehenna Plains.  :+)  Look for pimptastic announcements from the pimp-o-crat Champion Shin. :+)

In service,

Princess Ruuna Darkwolf
She's a peach, Princess Peach that is ;+)

Wow!  What a weekend!  I'm hoping you all had as enjoyable a time as I did!  Once again, I'd like to say thanks to everyone who took part in another great summer trials.  We had some excellent competition, good attitudes and fun times.  Each challenge was well fought and people really showed their skills.  The tiny point difference of those who won in the iron chef and amtgard idol was impressive as well as the number of truly talented folks out there willing to compete.  The spirit award was also well contested, and all the teams had great attitudes on and off the field.  Pie in the face also went off well and helped cover the cost of the port-a-potties.

I want to thank Free Co. for allowing us to see the chopping of their newest blue and reds, congrats to Hazel and Altessa.  Congrats also to the new Lion, Etienne, and the newest Eternal Flame, Michael Porter.  It's wonderful to see companies flourishing; it warms the heart and brings a tear to the eye.

I think the official word from the autocrats in regards to the site is, although it is pretty, and the cabins and other building facilities are awesome, the camping, especially with all the hassle we got from the ranger about driving through the RV campground and the big distance between the group site and the rest of the activities, make us say thumbs down as a summer trials site.  Though we may be back there for Autumn Trials!

I want to give another big thank you to (in no particular order) Kite, Eternal Flame, Kaima, Lucynda, Padraig, and also to everyone who sang, cooked, gave a friend (or a stranger!) a ride, shared a beverage (or two), left a clean camp or cabin (and guys, those of you who did clean up after yourselves did a great job and made our lives better!) took pictures, cheered their team, fought with honor, took an injury with grace and the occasional laugh (even with a swollen lip!) or gave of themselves in whatever way to make the event fantastic.

I especially want to thank Clan Raion, for all their efforts, for getting things done on time (mostly!) and having a great attitude while working hard.  Again, you bring honor and pride to our name.

My pictures are already up on my facebook, but I'm eagerly awaiting the deluge of beautiful shots that I'm sure Teleri and Jori got.

I miss you all already and look forward with anticipation when we can all be together again.  Stay tuned for updates on Great Pumpkin, Autumn Trials, the Amtgard Jugging League, and all the other fun events that are coming up.  For you GPers, we'll soon be visiting for the Rivermoor day there.
